APhA is pleased to introduce Mark Walberg as the moderator for the APhA Opening General Session and APhA Second General Session. You may recognize Mark from his established career on television, which includes hosting an array of popular talk, reality, and game shows, as well as two Emmy nominations as host of the PBS hit series Antiques Roadshow.

Begin APhA2010 with a celebration of the pharmacy profession! The kick-off session will gather practitioners, scientists, and students to focus on pharmacy's "inspirational" leaders. The session will highlight the significant accomplishments of APhA during the past year and celebrate the individuals who demonstrated exceptional leadership and practice excellence. Learn from these outstanding examples...Inspire, Engage, and Influence...and guide your future endeavors in a strong direction.
The APhA2010 Opening General Session will feature the State of the Profession address by APhA President Ed Hamilton.
APhA Award winners will be recognized and Fellows of the American Pharmacists Association will be inducted.
KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
Perspectives on Health Care Reform
The recent national health care reform activities have offered pharmacy the opportunity to demonstrate the role it can play in patient care and improving medication use. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution specializing in health policy and health care reform, and the former Commissioner of FDA and Administrator of CMS. He will provide an update on the efforts underway to deliver a reformed health care system to the American public and the impact pharmacists can have.

The APhA2010 Second General Session is the place to be on Sunday morning! This session will focus on APhA and the Inspiration, Engagement and Influence the Association provides for pharmacists charting theircourse to patient care.
The APhA2010 Second General Session will feature the APhA Academy Award winners who are Engaging and Influencing the best for the profession. APhA's President-elect, Harold Godwin, will share his thoughts and inspiration for APhA's agenda in 2010.

The keynote presentation will be delivered by Alan E. Guttmacher, MD, Acting Director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and Former Acting Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute. Dr. Guttmacher will provide a stimulating discussion on the new frontier of genomics and personalized medicine and the important role pharmacists will play with these new medications. The keynote presentation has been approved for one hour (0.1 CEU) of pharmacy continuing education credit.

APhA-ASP Opening General Session

The best and brightest of our nation's student pharmacists gather to celebrate APhA-ASP members' inspiration to their communities, profession, and most importantly, their patients.
Keynote speaker Chuck Jackson, Ed.D., will teach student pharmacists the keys to developing their personal, positive power through maintaining physical and mental wellness. Also, awards will be presented to the regional and national recipients of Operation Immunization, Operation Diabetes, Heartburn Awareness Challenge, and Project CHANCE.
The keynote speaker is supported by an independent grant from Target.
